Wright keeps calm after Kiwi win, carries onChristchurch (New Zealand), Dec.14: Black Caps cricket coach John Wright is not known to get carried away. Though he is enjoying the aftermath of New Zealand’s seven-run win over Australia in Hobart on Monday, but he arrived back in Christchurch early on Wednesday sounding a note of caution. He said descriptions of the Test as a defining moment for New Zealand were a little premature. The Age quoted him, as saying: "It''s too early to tell... People tend to get a little carried away with victory. But it''s better coming back to New Zealand with a victory over Australia than not." Wright is already eyeing the upcoming Zimbabwe series, which takes in a Boxing Day Test, three one-day internationals and two Twenty20s. South Africa, a formidable opponent, follows in February with three Twenty20s, three one-day matches, and three Tests. "We haven''t played a lot of Test cricket, and I think that shows. We showed application, but we need to see a little bit," he said. He added: "That''s an area we need to improve on... Let''s hope we can show some of the fighting qualities people saw yesterday." © ANI |
