Sydney, Sep 12: As Australian opening batsmen Shane Watson and David Warner reached their century partnership, and were only a few runs away from the Australian Twenty20 record for any wicket during final Twenty20 match against Pakistan, the all rounder said their priority was to score runs at that time, and added that the record wasn’t in their minds.
Warner, who smashed 59, confesses he wasn''t thinking about it much. He combined with Watson (47) to put on 111 for the first wicket, beating the 108 by Watson and Mike Hussey in the West Indies in March.
“We talk about partnerships when we''re batting together. It''s a perfect platform for us going to the World T20 [in Sri Lanka, starting on September 18],” the Age quoted Watson, as saying.
Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins claimed three wickets each to bowl Pakistan out for 74 in reply to Australia''s 7-168.
