Warne set to captain Melbourne Stars in Cricket Australia's second BBL editionSydney, July 11: Melbourne Stars are expected to announce the signing of leg-spin great Shane Warne for a second season in Cricket Australia’s Big Bash League and will be asking him to lead the side. Warne, 42, has been also chasing Melbourne Renegades'' opener and former Test batsman Brad Hodge to switch camps. According to The Age, the Stars have scheduled an announcement at the MCG on Thursday to unveil the two player signings for the Twenty20 cricket competition. Big Bash League competition organisers have reportedly decided to cash in on the success of cross-town derbies, while the Renegades will be opening the second season against the Stars at Etihad Stadium on Friday December 7. The Renegades also announced this week that Hodge''s opening partner from last summer Aaron Finch has re-signed on a three-year deal. Glenn Maxwell, a promising 23-year-old allrounder, is also reportedly switching camps from the Renegades to the Stars. © ANI |
