Under fire ex cricketer Hogg apologises for tweeting anti-Muslim Australia Day slurMelbourne, Jan 26 : Former Australian Test cricketer Rodney Hogg has come under fire for posting an anti- Muslim slur on Twitter today. "Just put out my aussie flag for Australia Day but I wasn''t sure if it would offend Muslims...So I wrote "Allah is a shit" on it to make sure," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted his tweet, as saying. His tweet has provoked an outrage among Twitter users. "@RMHogg that is a disgraceful thing to say. I hope @Uz-Khawaja sees this," tweeted jeffrey-gabriel, referring to Usman Khawaja, the first Muslim cricketer to wear the baggy green. Hogg’s Twitter account is not verified but contains links to his corporate speaking website. He, however, later apologized for his comment. "Bad attempted Australian humour, sorry if I offended you," he tweeted. Hogg, 60, played 38 Tests and 71 ODIs between 1978 and 1985. © ANI |
