Western Cape Cobras sealed a home final and Central Knights a home semi-final after the final South African 50-over championship league matches Wednesday.
An unbeaten 78 from star South Africa batsman Jacques Kallis helped Cobras waltz to an eight-wicket victory over Coastal Dolphins from Durban at Newlands in Cape Town.
It was much tighter for Knights as they crept over the line by one wicket with one ball to spare away to Highveld Lions at the Wanderers in Johannesburg where middle-order Aubrey Swanepoel (54) top scored for the winners.
Eastern Cape Warriors lay second with a two-point advantage over Knights going into the final round of league action and knew a win would give them a home final if the Cobras slipped up.
But they finished third two points adrift of the Knights after suffering a four-wicket loss away to fifth-place Northern Titans at SuperSport Park close to the highway linking Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Individual final-round honours went to Titans middle-order batsmen David Wiese (82) and Knights fast bowler Dillon du Preez (5-47) while former South Africa star Makhaya Ntini (3-48) was the Warriors' leading wicket-taker.
Knights host Warriors Sunday in the lone semi-final and the winners travel to Cape Town for a December 9 date with a star-saturated Cobras side that includes Test captain Graeme Smith, Kallis and pace ace Dale Steyn.
