England batsmen Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott had a day of contrasting fortunes while playing for Warwickshire on the opening day of their First Division County Championship match at Sussex on Thursday. With both players looking for some early season form ahead of the upcoming Test series against the West Indies, Bell -- who struggled while on England duty against Pakistan and Sri Lanka -- fell for a seven-ball duck at Hove as he was bowled by James Anyon. Bell's exit saw Warwickshire in trouble at 13 for two after also losing Ireland's William Porterfield for eight but Trott responded with an unbeaten 132 while Varun Chopra made 105 as the duo shared a third wicket stand of 219. At stumps, Warwickshire were 281 for five. |
