Swann threatens to cease paying council tax after getting "six pointer" speeding slap!

London, Jun 2: England off spinner Graeme Swann has threatened to stop paying his council tax after the magistrates gave him six penalty points in an over speeding incident.

Swann was summoned in court on Friday after allegedly failing to respond to a prosecution notice.

Swann''s Jaguar was driving at 74 mph in a 50 mph zone, and did not reply to four speeding notices sent to his home in West Bridgford, Notts.

Swann claimed his agent had been driving the car near Pencraig, Herefordshire, a year ago, and added he had only received one letter.

"I had a letter saying I had failed to respond to something when I had responded and that wound me up," The Sun quoted Swann, as saying.

"This is ridiculous, I''m going to stop paying my council tax," he added.
