Spot fixing convicts Butt, Amir appeal hearings against penalty to begin next weekLondon,Nov 18 : Former Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir are to begin their appeal hearings against their sentences in connection with the spot –fixing scam from next week. Butt,27 was imprisoned for 30 months and former bowler,Amir received a six month term for accepting bribes to bowel deliberate no balls in a 2010 Test match against England. Bowler Mohammad Asif and cricket agent Mazhar Majeed were also jailed in the scam. Mazeed claimed to have paid Asif 65,000 pounds, Butt, 10,000 pounds and Amir 2,500 pounds as bribes, the BBC reports. The judge, however, told all three players that they would be released on licence after serving their half sentences, if they behaved well in prison. © ANI |
