South Africa won the toss and decided to send Australia in to bat in the fifth and final one-day international against Australia at the Wanderers Stadium on Friday. South Africa, holding a winning 3-1 lead in the series, made two changes from the side that won the previous three matches. Off-spinner Johan Botha, who was reported for a suspected illegal bowling action after the fourth match in Port Elizabeth on Monday, was rested "to take the focus off him" according to captain Graeme Smith, while promising left-arm fast bowler Wayne Parnell was left out. In their places South Africa included fast bowlers Morne Morkel and Makhaya Ntini. Australia made one change, with Ben Laughlin replacing fellow fast bowler Shane Harwood. In the previous one-day international between the two teams at the Wanderers, Australia made a then-world record 434 for four, only to be overhauled by South Africa, who made 438 for nine. Teams: South Africa: Graeme Smith (capt), Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Mark Boucher (wkt), Albie Morkel, Roelof van der Merwe, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini. Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin (wkt), David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Callum Ferguson, James Hopes, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Nathan Bracken, Ben Laughlin. Umpires: Asoka de Silva (SRI), Rudi Koertzen (RSA). TV umpire: Brian Jerling (RSA). Match referee: Ranjan Madugalle (SRI) |
