Alviro Petersen reminded the South African selectors of his talent Wednesday with 115 runs for Highveld Lions in a SuperSport Series clash against neighbours Northern Titans.
Petersen may have lost his national team place to Titan Jacques Rudolph, who has underperformed in home series against Australia and Sri Lanka, but not an ability to punish bowlers with the Benoni knock including 15 fours and three sixes.
His 207-minute stand ended when caught behind by Heino Kuhn off the bowling of Rowan Richards, but fellow opener Stephen Cook kept the Willowmoore Park scoreboard operators busy with an undefeated 95 that included 11 fours.
By close of play on day two in the eastern Johannesburg suburb, Lions had reached 248-4 in reply to Titans' 354 in which skipper Martin van Jaarsveld and Faf du Plessis led the way with 80 runs each.
