Bangladesh sttutter in run chase
Bangladesh’ dream of making it to the quarterfinals is fast diminishing at Mirpur stadium with half of their side back to the hut with only 36 runs on the board after the completion of 16 overs.
Faced with an uphill task of chasing down 285, Bangladeshi batsmen caved in under pressure as wickets fell like ninepins in the face of some disciplined bowling from South African bowlers.
For South Africa, Lonwabo Tsotsobe celebrated his inclusion into the squad in style claiming 3 wickets in his first spell.
Tsotsobe was brilliantly backed up by the spin duo of Peterson and Botha who both struck early to leave Bangladesh innings in tatters.
Much of Bangladesh hope now rests on the shoulder of skipper Saquib Ul Hasan who has to do a play a Kapil Dev kind of innings to take Bangladesh home.
Bangladesh: 36 / 5 in 15.1 overs (RR: 2.37)
Mushfiqur Rahim c Smith b Peterson 3 (21b 0x4 0x6) SR: 14.28
Bangladesh’ hope of making it to the knockout stage is fast diminishing….Skipper Smith has taken a blinder at first slip to send Rahim back…Peterson the bowler…pin drop silence in spectators’ stand………….
Bangladesh*: 30 / 4 in 11.0 overs RR: 2.73
Shakib Al Hasan - 8* (9b 2x4), Mushfiqur Rahim- 1* (9b)
WD Parnell - 2-1-1-0 LL Tsotsobe 5-2-14-3
World cup elimination looms large for the tigers with regular wicket fall knocking the stuffing out of their run chase….all eyes are on Bangladeshi skipper Saquib…Can he be a national hero today?
Bangladesh*: 21 / 4 in 7.6 overs RR: 2.63
Tsotsobe has clearly rattled Bangladesh…..Another one goes as Nafess is castled through his pads
Junaid Siddique lbw b Botha 2 (7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 28.57
Bangladesh are falling apart here….now 3 down for 21….Spin has worked for SA again..Botha snaring Junaid with a quicker delivery
Bangladesh*: 15 / 2 in 5.4 overs RR: 2.65
Tsotsobe is celebrating wildly as he has picked up so far 2 wickets……clearly he is making a case for his inclusion into the sqad when the team plays in knockout stage.
Bangladesh*: 8 / 0 in 1.1 overs RR: 6.00
Positive start for the tigers….Plenty of drama up front….South Africans having problem with the ball as umpires have pulled out a pair of scissors to remove feathers off it….
