London, Dec 14: England wicketkeeper Matt Prior has warned bowlers that he plans to add another 10 runs to his existing batting average of 44.71.
Prior now averages 44.71 from his 47 caps to date, but that is not enough to keep him satisfied.
“I may average nearly 45 with the bat, but I want to average 55. Until you’re like the great Don Bradman and average 100, then you cannot afford to stand still.
“The same goes with my wicketkeeping. If you don’t keep looking to improve, things catch up with you very quickly — that’s the team ethos,” Prior told The Sun.
Prior has gone from Test aspirant four years ago to become the ultimate team man in the England dressing room.
He said: “Reaching No1 in the world felt incredible — it’s my proudest moment as an England cricketer without a shadow of a doubt. The reaction to saying that has been surprise — people think I’ll say winning The Ashes last winter.
“But while they were phenomenal times, becoming world No1 means you have done it over a prolonged period of time and that’s harder than anything.”
