PCB gets thumbs-up from Australia for successfully hosting UAE seriesKarachi, Sept. 11: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) received a thumbs-up from their Australian counterparts for hosting the series in a ''befitting manner'' during a period said to be the hottest season in the UAE, a PCB official said. While the players had to endure severe temperatures rising to as much as 45 degrees Celsius - the official said the fixtures were a ''roaring success''. "We received a thumbs-up from Australia. They were happy at the way the series was organised. The PCB is also thankful to them who made the series happen. The crowd attendance throughout the series speaks volumes of the success," The Express Tribune quoted the official, as saying. "We broke the attendance record during the second Twenty20 in Dubai. Hopefully, it will be the same in the final match. In fact, we were complimented that we created a new window in the UAE by the local organizers," he added. The PCB preferred the venue to Malaysia after weeks of deliberation following the cancellation by Sri Lanka who refused to host the series due to its inaugural Twenty20 league. The organisers tweaked the timings owing to the weather conditions, pushing the matches to a late start. However, the official said the board achieved more than what it expected. He added that the PCB suffered no financial losses but, in fact, made an unexpected gain. © ANI |
