Patient Sree waiting for his time

Vinay Kumar has just been sold for a million dollars in the Indian Premier League auction while Umesh Yadav has been making the right noises in Australia. With Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar too back in the India squad and talented fast bowlers like Varun Aaron waiting in the sidelines, Sreesanth's name has somewhat slipped through the gaps.

But all that doesn't seem to bother Sreesanth. For the Kerala pacer, still recuperating from a toe injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, it's all about time and then finally being able to play cricket.

I have never thought about how others have performed. I love playing the game. If I was thinking like that I wouldn't have played at all, Sreesanth told HT as he patiently doled out autographs to trainees of a cricket academy during an event here.

Focussed on cricket

A day after the fast bowler was sold to Rajasthan Royals at his base price of $400,000, Sreesanth said he couldn't worry about what happened to Kochi Tuskers Kerala after a turbulent year in the IPL. Honestly, I can't think about that right now. The only thing on my mind right now is that I will get some cricket, said Sreesanth, who had to sit out of quite a few matches of the previous IPL for Kochi even though he was declared fit.

But that too could be a close call. The pacer wasn't available for selection for the Australian tour due to injury and has been out for quite some time but he doesn't want to hurry his way back. I think I need atleast 6-8 weeks to get fully fit, said the 28-year-old who turns 29 on Monday. The IPL starts on April 4.

Realistically, I'm targeting the Twenty20 World Cup in September, he said. But how confident is he of making the cut? Once I'm fit and get back to playing, I know I will be there. I want to compete, said Sreesanth.
