Pakistani cricket legends pitch for Indo-Pak seriesLahore, May 30: Pakistani cricket legends have welcomed the likely resumption of Indo-Pak bilateral series, saying that the fans would enjoy the archrivals clash on the field. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf after a meeting with his Indian counterpart had announced that the bilateral cricket series between both the countries would resume soon. Former skipper Zaheer Abbas said Pakistan-India bilateral series is a most-wanted event. “It was the ideal time for the chairman to ask BCCI to have a bilateral series at any neutral venue or even in Pakistan or India,” he said. Zaheer said a Pak-India series is the dire need of the hour as it has been ages since the two have meet each-other in a series except in the World Cup semi- final match and the Asia Cup. “The cricket lovers all around the world want to see Pak-India meet in the field,” The Nation quoted him, as saying. Zaheer believes that the series would provide a big breakthrough in improving relations between the two countries that were strained after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The India team was due to tour Pakistan in early 2009 but the visit was cancelled. Former pacer Sarfraz Nawaz said the proposed series would boost the passion in the players who are dying to meet each other on the field. “If the series happens it would make all the people of both the countries get them locked in their houses to watch it. This series is bigger than any other series in the world of cricket, even the Ashes,” he said. © ANI |
