Pakistan trio to meet officials Thursday - manager

The three Pakistan players engulfed in betting scam allegations will be summoned to a meeting in London on Thursday -- effectively ruling them out of the team's warm-up match here.

Pakistan team manager Yawaz Saeed said Test captain Salman Butt plus bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif are due to meet with Ijaz Butt, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, and Wajid Shamsul Hasan, Pakistan's high commissioner (ambassador) to Britain.

It was earlier announced that the meeting would take place on Wednesday, the day before Pakistan face county side Somerset in Taunton, southwest England.

Some figures within the game have called for the three players to be formally suspended for the rest of the tour of England.

Holding the meeting on Thursday now means that while they are not withdrawn from contention, they will be unable to play.

The match is a warm-up for the two Twenty20 games against England in Cardiff, starting Sunday, and the following five-match one-day international series.

Skipper Butt, Aamer and Asif are due to travel from Taunton to London on Wednesday.

Following Thursday's meeting, they are due to rejoin the squad on Saturday -- just one day ahead of the first Twenty20 international.
