Oz pitches needs to be altered to offer assistance to spin: WhiteMelbourne, Nov 26 : Victoria captain Cameron White has said that Australia’s chances of excelling in the subcontinent will be severely hindered until its own first-class pitches are altered to offer more assistance to spin bowlers. White justified the exclusion of spinner Jon Holland from the match because the MCG pitch was not sufficiently conducive to slow bowling. ''''It''s hard to get spin into the contest when you see [the traits of] not only this wicket, but wickets around the country,'''' the Age quoted him, as saying. ''''One of the things Australian teams have been crying out for is the development of a spinner over the past couple of years, but in first-class cricket we keep dishing up dream wickets for fast bowlers - and then we go to India and expect someone to take eight wickets in a match to bowl our side to victory.'''' © ANI |
