Rain forces abandonment of Tri-nation opener
The first match of Tri-nation opener between Ireland and Sri Lanka to be played at Edinburgh, Scotland was called off due to wet outfield and inclement weather. Umpires waited till late afternoon but to no avail as persistent rains in the build up to the fixture and during the day made it impossible for the ground staff to get the ground ready for the play.
The cancellation of the game has robbed off Ireland from facing a top cricketing nation and showcasing their talent yet again with a big gun as their opposition.
Weather is likely to have a big say in the tournament that features hosts as the third team. Scotland all due to play their Associate Nations’ counterpart Ireland tomorrow. Both the teams and their fans would be hoping for rain to stay away.
