Mon, 07 Mar 2011 - Canada vs Kenya, World Cup 2011, 23rd match Group A - BulletinKenya scrap to 198 against impressive Canada Kenya recovered well after it had lost half of its side for 57 runs inside first fifteen overs to post a decent total of 198 runs after electing to bat first against Canada in the group A march at Ferozshah Kotla Ground, Delhi. Tanmay Mishra and Thomas Odoyo scored fifties to lift the side after Henry Osinde had ripped heart out of Kenyan top order by removing first three batsmen. Osinde who had figures of four wickets for 26 runs in his ten at the end of the innings removed both openers and David Obuya in his first four overs to leave Kenyan innings in tatters early. Canada didn’t hold back and removed two batsmen with Hari Baidwan ending Collin Obuya’s good looking knock of 31 and Rizwan Cheema trapping Steve Tikolo for 12 runs. Tanmay Mishra first combined with his skipper Jimmy Kamande for the 6th wicket to post 52 runs and then followed it up with another decent partnership of 57 runs with Thomas Odoyo giving some respectability to the scoreboard. A clutter of wickets fell again after Tanmay Mishra’s dismissal who scored a well compiled half-century hitting three boundaries in his 73-ball 51. Odoyo, however, wasn’t perturbed by the fall of wickets with his half century coming off 60 balls with five hits to the fence and a towering six. Rizwan Cheema and Baidwan were also amongst wickets taking two wickets each while spinners Balaji Rao and John Davison also got a wicket apiece. Kenya totters against disciplined Canada Kenya were tottering at 73 for the loss of five wickets at the end of twenty overs after opting to bat first against Canada at Ferozshah Kotla Ground, Delhi. Tanmay Mishra was batting on 18 runs while his skipper Jimmy Kamande was not out 6 runs. Canadian opening bowler Henry Osinde ripped through Kenyan top order taking first three wickets while H Baidwan and Rizwan Cheema took a wicket apiece. For Kenya only Collins Obuya showed some resistance scoring 35-ball 31 before getting clean bowled to Baidwan. TOSS Kenya have won the toss and have no hesitation to bat first on slow Ferozshah Kotla pitch. Kenyan captain Jimmy Kamande hopes that his team would perform better with the bat against Canada. Kenya have made two changes to their team with senior all-rounder Thomas Odoyo coming back into the playing eleven. Canadian skipper Ashish Bagai feels that his boys are upbeat about the encounter against Kenya and hoped to put up a decent show against them. Explosive batsman John Davison is fit to play this game after missing match against Pakistan.
