Kenya has appointed Englishman Tom Sears as cricket chief executive to take over the post left vacant following the resignation of Kenyan Tom Tikolo late last year.
Cricket Kenya (CK) chief Samir Inamdar said Sears, a former Derbyshire chief executive and New Zealand cricket head of business development, had the best credentials to steer Kenyan cricket which has been facing a decline in recent years.
"Sears is the most ideally suited candidate to take on this job given the breadth of his commercial and administrative experience," said Inamdar in a press statement.
"With his background and skills, Kenya's cricket development will be in very capable hands."
As chief executive of Derbyshire between 2005 and 2008, Sears helped to restructure the English county from a loss-making side to a stronger financial position. He also worked as a commercial director of Worcestershire.
He replaces former national team captain Tikolo who was forced to resign last December over allegations of misappropriation of funds.
Sears, who has been the business development manager of New Zealand cricket since September 2008, takes over his new post on July 19.
