Kartik and Malan commit to Middlesex

Murali Kartik is set to feature for Middlesex in the upcoming Stanford Super Series and the inaugural Champions League after the Lord's-based county announced Tuesday they'd re-signed the India spinner.

"I am delighted and honoured to be back at Middlesex for the third year in a row," left-armer Kartik said in a club statement.

I'm looking forward to the Stanford Super Series and the Champions League and helping to bring more success next year.

"With the potential and young talent at the club we can look forward to exciting times and I am very much looking forward to it."

England's Twenty20 Cup champions also announced that 21-year-old batsman Dawid Malan, born in England but brought up in South Africa, had also re-signed on a long term contract.

Malan came to prominence by scoring 103 in their Twenty20 Cup quarter-final victory against Lancashire.

"We are delighted that Kartik and Dawid have re-signed for Middlesex," said club chief executive Vinny Codrington.

"Dawid is a real star of the future and one to watch, and Kartik has been a great overseas signing for us and I'm sure will continue to bring experience, intelligence and motivation to our predominantly young squad."

In July, Middlesex beat Kent in a thrilling Twenty20 Cup final which went down to the last ball.

By reaching the final, Middlesex qualified for the Twenty20 Champions League due to be held in India in December, where the winners will take home 2.5 million pounds (five million dollars).

And by becoming Twenty20 Cup champions Middlesex gained the lucrative additional prize of a place in the Super Series - the latest creation of American billionaire Allen Stanford - where they will be up against the England national side, a Caribbean All-Stars team and Trinidad and Tobago.

That event climaxes with a match between England and Stanford's All Stars at the Texan-born businessman's own ground in Antigua on November 1 where each member of the winning side will receive one million dollars (500,000 pounds).
