Kamran Akmal included in World T20 squad after ICC clearance on match fixing chargesLahore, July 22: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf has reiterated that wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has been included in the World Twenty20 squad after he was cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) of match fixing charges. Ashraf said Kamran was considered for selection after receiving an "all-clear" by cricket''s governing body. "We wrote to the ICC to ask them if they have any reservations on Kamran Akmal''s inclusion. In reply, they said the ICC has not found any evidence of wrongdoing against him and he is free to play," The Dawn quoted Ashraf, as saying. Kamran was picked for Pakistan''s World Twenty20 squad after being out of the national team for over a year. He last played during Pakistan''s campaign at the ICC World Cup 2011, where Pakistan reached the semi-finals. His younger brothers Adnan and Umar have remained a part of the national team, albeit in different formats of the game. © ANI |
