Ireland hold nerve to complete whitewashIreland completed a 3-0 whitewash over Kenya in the T20I series with a thrilling two run win in the last match at Mombasa Sports Club Ground. Batting first, Ireland struggled to get going and would have been in deep trouble without contributions from Gary Wilson and Ed Joyce, who rescued the visitors from a precarious 14 for 3. The two added 55 runs for the fourth wicket before another collapse prevented any momentum from building up. As a result, the visitors could only muster what looked like a paltry 107 for 9 in the twenty overs. For Kenya, Shem Ngoche starred with figures of four for 14. In reply, Kenya lost their openers for only six. But, Collins Obuya and Tanmay Mishra kept the chase going with 53-run stand. After Obuya fell on 42, Mishra steered the chase to take Kenya within striking distance. With 18 required from three overs, the hosts had a decent chance of winning but Mishra fell at the wrong time and Irish blowers bowled tightly to restrict Kenya for 105 for 7. © eContent.in |
