London, July 7: Australian fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus has said that he ‘loves to beat the Poms’, as he had unfinished business against England.
Hifenhaus was part of the Australian side that consecutively lost the Ashes series in England and Australia.
Having re-invigorated his action and his international career Hilfenhaus said: “I definitely don’t want to be a part of a third losing one and think there are a lot of blokes who feel the same way,” he said.
“I don''t want to look too far ahead but it will be a big series for us. You always love to beat the Poms, let''s be honest. We didn''t have the ideal start to the series and I think in the last two games of the series we will show them what we are made of, the No.1 team in the world. It''s nice to be playing in these conditions and a little reminder of the things we need to work on.”
Hilfenhaus was poised to bowl for the first time in the ODI series against England at Edgbaston on Wednesday before the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled, leaving the Poms holding a 2-0 lead entering the final two games.
“I was going to but I think Australian cricket is in a pretty good place at the moment with fast bowling stocks,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying on Friday.
“We had the luxury of six blokes here until Pat Cummins went home. The selectors have a lot of options each game. If I am not in the best XI there are things I need to keep working on. I think it''s very healthy competition. It would be nice to get a game but at the end of the day it is about putting the best team on the park,” he said.
