Harris will resume his role as Test enforcer at WACA: SiddlePerth, Jan 11 : Australian pacer Peter Siddle has that Ryan Harris is ready to instantly regain his status as a Test match enforcer and a severe lack of first-class cricket will not come in his way. Harris will replace injured James Pattinson in the Australian XI for Friday’s third Test in Perth, with selectors still mulling over whether to play left-armer Mitchell Starc ahead of spinner Nathan Lyon on a green WACA deck. The scheduling has forced several budding Test players, including Harris, to push for selection by playing Twenty20 cricket in the Big Bash League. Siddle was confident that the Queenslander had done enough work off the field to withstand the rigours of Test cricket. “He’s bowled just as many overs as me in the nets against our batters in pretty fierce rivalry,” Siddle said. “He hasn’t had the first-class cricket, but how competitive we take those net sessions (ensures) he’s going to be up to that standard,” PerthNow quoted him, as saying. © ANI |
