Former Yorskhire and England cricketer Hamilton's 115 off 152 balls helped Scotland surpass Ireland's total of 210 for eight with 15 balls to spare.
Victory saw Scotland set up a triangular series final against New Zealand, who thrashed Ireland by a record 290 runs on Monday.
That was the biggest margin of victory in the history of one-day international cricket, surpassing India's 257-run defeat of Bermuda at last year's World Cup.
This game was somewhat closer. Scotland were in trouble after the loss of two early wickets before a third-wicket stand of 122 between Hamilton, who struck 13 fours, and local hero Colin Smith (59) turned the game their way.
Earlier South Africa-born pace bowler Dewald Nel, formerly of Worcestershire, took a Scottish ODI record four for 25.
