Guptill and Oram injuries only negatives for Black CapsWellington, Feb 10 : Martin Guptill and Jacob Oram spent time off the field last night during New Zealand’s match against Zimbabwe after getting injured and their injuries are deemed as the only two negatives from the ODI clean sweep against the African minnows. The Black Caps go into tomorrow''s first of two T20 internationals in Auckland with a vice-like grip on the tourists after winning the third ODI by 202 runs at McLean Park in Napier. New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum said both had niggly injuries and their jam-packed schedule means they are taking extra care of player’s fitness now. “He [Oram] is a bit tight in the calf and Martin''s a bit tight in the groin. With such a brutal schedule we''re a bit cautious with them. I don''t expect them to be out at all, it''s a matter of looking after them,” Stuff.co.nz quoted McCullum, as saying. He said he would like to see Guptill play more since he is a rich vein of form but proper discussions would be undertaken to decide the right combination of players for the upcoming two Twenty20 matches. “We''re going to have to have a look and come up with something with the balance of the teams we want to play in the two games.” “I''d still like to see Martin continue, when you''re in that vein of form you want to keep rolling him out there. Jake, it just depends how bad it is but I think it''s ok,” he said. Guptill blasted 85 off 69 balls in a fiery inning last night. © ANI |
