Gillespie impressed by top Indian seamers' efforts on 'unresponsive' pitchesMohali, May 24 : Former Australian fast bowler and Kings XI Punjab bowling coach Jason Gillespie has said that he is impressed by the efforts of Indian fast bowlers on decks which offer them little encouragement. The Indian Premier League (IPL) stint allowed Gillespie to take a close look at most of the Indian fast bowlers- right from experienced Zaheer Khan to the young Ishant Sharma, and the 36-year-old felt it’s a tall order for these boys to bowl on “unresponsive” pitches. “In order to succeed under these conditions, they’ve got to give themselves every bit of chance and be extremely disciplined with their training regimen. They need to go into each match with a very clear mind,” Gulf News quoted Gillespie, as saying. Despite a late flourish in the Twenty20 tournament, Gillespie’s Kings XI Punjab failed to make it to the play-offs, but ended in a creditable fifth spot in the points’ table. © ANI |
