Flintoff wants England team to stick with Harmison

London, Sep 30 (ANI): Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff has said that Steve Harmison is the man to spearhead England’s Test side following his own retirement.

Durham ace Harmison has been mulling over his international future this summer after being denied a central contract.

Despite the snub, the 30-year-old will remain available for selection unless he is finally told he no longer figures in the plans of captain Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower.

Flintoff, who bowed out from Test duty following the 2-1 Ashes win over Australia, has urged the duo to stick with him.

“We had the biggest game of the summer in the Ashes at The Oval and he was playing. I’d have him in my side. Well I did do, didn’t I? I’d have him in every day,” The Sun quoted Flintoff, as saying.

With 226 wickets from his 62 Tests, Harmison has always been the enigma of world cricket. But a lack of consistency has seen the right-armer in and out of the side, much to his own frustration.

“If you speak to any team in the world, Aussies included, about who they don’t want to face, it’s Steve Harmison. He’d be in my team any day,” Flintoff said.
