London, June 21: England’s decision to rest their three star players in Tim Bresnan, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad is not going down well with the fans, and Yorkshire’s chairman Colin Graves has now slammed the selectors decision to rest local hero Bresnan for the final one-day international against the West Indies at Headingley.
England have already won the three match one-day series 2-0 with a win at The Oval, and has decided to include three young players Stuart Meaker, Chris Woakes and James Tredwell as replacements in the team for the final match.
Graves believes the fans won’t be hugely impressed by selectors decision, and this could have a negative effect.
“I understand England’s reasons but from the crowd’s point of view, it’s disappointing,” The Telegraph quoted Graves, as saying.
“People who pay good money for tickets expect the best team to come. Not having Tim Bresnan playing doesn’t help us as a ground. We do our best to sell tickets in a difficult economic climate but it won’t get any easier if they continue to rest key players,” he added.
As of yesterday, Yorkshire had sold all but 1500 tickets and Graves was confident of a ‘good crowd’, but rest and rotation remains a controversial topic.
