Patel inspires India to 274-7 in England one-dayer

Parthiv Patel missed out on a maiden international hundred but still helped world champions India to a total of 274 for seven from 50 overs in the first one-day international against England here on Saturday.

Patel - who came in for the injured master batsman Sachin Tendulkar - made 95 from 107 balls with 12 fours and shared a stand of 103 for the second wicket with Virat Kohli who made 55.
