Cook supports England's idea of splitting captaincy

London, Dec 30: England’s ODI skipper Alastair Cook has once again backed the idea of splitting captaincy in all three formats of the game.

England will play Pakistan in three Tests, four one-dayers and three Twenty20 slogs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Cook said: “I don’t particularly agree with those who say the split captaincy isn’t ideal. When we switch formats there’s a new guy with fresh ideas ready to step up and inject energy into the side.”

“We play so much cricket now anything which helps us maintain our intensity is good. None of us – me, Strauss or Broady – want to be the skipper who lets the side down,” The Mirror quoted him, as saying.

“If you had offered me two Ashes wins and No.1 Test ranking at the start of my career, I’d probably have snapped your hand off. But we’re trying to build something special with England across all formats, and I want to play as big a role as I can in it,” he added.
