Brett Lee praised after he rejects NSW contract for young playerSydney, June 28: Australian pacer Brett Lee’s decision not to sign a contract for New South Wales is a selfless move unlikely to be replicated, Players’ Association boss Paul Marsh has said. Lee, on tour with Australia in England, announced that he did not want to sign a NSW contract when he would only play a handful of one-day matches at state level next summer. Instead, the 35-year-old believes the likelihood he will earn a $190,000 Cricket Australia upgrade under the new contract system will be enough, and he is happy to leave his spot at the Blues for a younger player. Lee said he would be available for NSW on a “match-by-match” basis, The Sydney Morning Herald reports. Marsh, the Australian Cricketers’ Association chief executive, applauded Lee’s decision but did not think many others would take it. “It was a very selfless thing that he did,” Marsh said. © ANI |
