West Indies, leading the two-match series 1-0, won the toss and elected to field as they began the second Test at Sabina Park on Thursday. New Zealand were without spinner Daniel Vettori and and also batsman Daniel Flynn owing to groin strains suffered in the opening Test which the Black Caps lost by nine wickets. The Black Caps had Martin Guptill, who made 97 in the first innings of the opening Test, and recalled South Africa-born Bradley John Watling opening on a pitch moist from overnight rain. The tourists left out Chris Martin as skipper Ross Taylor said he wanted fresh seam impetus. Medium quick Trent Boult and fast-medium Tim Southee also came back while for the hosts, Tino Best came in for the injured Ravi Rampaul.
