Bell looks to fill in Pietersen's boots on England ODI returnLondon, Jun 13 : Ian Bell, who has been picked to open alongside Alastair Cook in place of the retired Kevin Pietersen in ODIs, has vowed to use this opportunity to fill Pietersen’s space in the team. Bell, 30, a giant in the Test arena, is looking forward to make the most of his recall to the England ODI side on Tuesday. “There is no doubt that I’ve got unfinished business with one day cricket because I haven’t managed to kick on in the way I have done in Test matches. I’ve not done as well as I would have liked in one day cricket for a few reasons. I’ve been up and down the order and batting at five or six didn’t really suit my game,” said Bell. “I think I have also put too much pressure on myself at times in one day cricket and have tried to hit the ball too hard. Having just turned 30, I feel like the next five years will be my best as a batsman and if I can translate my Warwickshire one day form to England I can make a success of this,” The Daily Mirror quoted him, as saying. “I believe I’m a much better player now than I was when I last batted at the top of the order in one day cricket and I’m looking forward to forming a decent partnership with Cooky,” Bell added. © ANI |
