New cricket coach Eldine Baptiste said on Friday he planned to return Kenya to the top as the number one associate country during his two-year tenure.
The former West Indies fast bowler, who was named to the job last week will also be involved in the development of the country's cricket from the grassroots.
"It is a great privilege and honour to be in Kenya. I know the cricket is not what it used to be but I want to achieve the winning team," Baptiste said at a news conference.
"I will personally take charge in identifing young players and the selection of the players into the national team, and hopefully, we will put Kenya back as the number one in the Associates," he added.
Kenya are scheduled to tour Zimbabwe later this month for a four-day Intercontinental Cup tie and five One-Day internationals and the new coach is expected to retain the same team that beat Canada in their Intercontinental qualifier in Toronto last month to move into second place behind the leaders, Scotland.
Zimbabwe, which are fielding their "A" side in the four-day tournament, wrapped up a five-match whitewash series victory over Kenya when they toured the country in February.
