Alviro Petersen scores 100 to remind South African selectors of his abilityCape Town, Dec 29 : Alviro Petersen scored his 23rd first-class century, reminding South African selectors of his ability after a poor batting performance in the concurrent Sunfoil Test match against Sri Lanka at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead. He finished on 115 (180 balls, 15 fours and 3 sixes) and shared an opening stand of 181 in 55 overs with Stephen Cook who finished the day unbeaten on 95 (217 balls, 11 fours). The Lions will resume their first innings on 248/4 with the second new ball just three overs away. The Titans were earlier dismissed for 354 with the young Lions leg spinner Eddie Leie returning a franchise career best return of 5/93. Wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile (two catches and a stumping) assisted him in three of the dismissals. Justin Ontong, top of the SuperSport Series averages, and JP Duminy both made half-centuries but their dismissals sparked off a collapse by the lower middle-order from 151/3 to 210/8, Sport24 reports. © ANI |
