'Unperturbed' Wade vows to cement his place in Australian team

Sydney, Feb 3: Australian wicket keeper Matthew Wade has vowed to cement his place in the Australian team after performing brilliantly in the first Twenty20 match against India.

He strengthened his claim in the Australian squad after scoring 72 of 43 balls in his debut Twenty20 match against India at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney. “I feel like my game''s at a level where I can compete definitely at the highest level,” News.com.au quoted Wade, as saying.

Wade also brushed aside suggestions that he was perturbed with beleaguered wicket keeper Brad Haddin leading the Prime Minister’s XI against Sri Lanka and getting a chance to come back into the Australian squad.

“I''m not sure what Hadds was doing (Wednesday night) - I''m just concentrating on the stuff I can control, which is what I can do out in the middle. I''m not too concerned about what''s going on outside the cricket ground,” he added. Meanwhile, Haddin has denied he has anything to prove in today''s PM''s XI match at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

“I''m very comfortable where everything''s at and I know exactly where I stand. This is not a do-or-die game,” said Haddin.
