'Injured' Kiwi Jesse Ryder to continue as all- rounder: AgentWellington, Jan 1: New Zealand player Jesse Ryder desires to continue as an all-rounder despite battling calf injury, his agent Aaron Klee has said. "Jesse has no plans to give up bowling at this stage. But what he will be doing is managing his return to bowling and making sure he doesn''t take the ball again until he''s got some good overs under his belt,” stuff.co.nz quoted Klee,as saying. "It''s something he wants to return to and provides additional motivation to get his body fitter and stronger – something he''s working hard with Chris Donaldson on.As for the talk that he might be considering giving one form of the game away, that''s something he hasn''t even considered. Jesse is absolutely committed to playing all three forms of the game for New Zealand," he added. New Zealand captain Ross Taylor had earlier suggested that Ryder might need to consider giving up bowling to prolong his career. He is expected to play in the Test against Zimbabwe in Napier on January 26 but the latest injury has raised questions on his career. Ryder was forced out of the Test matches in October and has missed over half of New Zealand''s scheduled one-day international matches. New Zealand strength and conditioning coach Chris Donaldson has backed Ryder saying he has achieved significant progress in recent times. "The truth is that when we are overseas on tour, he and I have done a lot of work together on our own, just doing small bits. It''s just going to take a bit of time to develop. But Jesse is definitely willing to work and has been doing everything that''s been asked of him so far," Donaldson said. © ANI |
