The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) feels a board as rich as the BCCI should do an extensive research on how fixers are constantly developing new ways to approach players and corrupt the game.
The BCB, during its inaugural edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, faced a crisis when Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed, playing for Chittagong Kings, was allegedly found having links with bookies.
Posing as players' agents, friends and linking up with their family members, the fixers are increasingly becoming difficult to handle. Now that this has hit India, the BCCI should put into place a task force and do extensive research on this. The boards and security personnel should be one step ahead of the fixers and not the other way round, Gazi Ashraf Lipu, BPL governing council chairman, told HT.
In February, during a BPL match between Chittagong Kings and Dhaka Gladiators, a Pakistan citizen, Shajid Khan, was spotted near the dressing room and arrested.
On interrogation, Jamshed's bank account number and contact details of another Pakistan player Rana Naved, were found in his mobile phone.
