England fined for slow Lord's over-rate

England have been fined for a slow over-rate during their 115-run win over Australia in the second Ashes Test at Lord's, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday.

Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after Andrew Strauss's side were ruled to be two overs short of their target at the end of the match on Monday when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with the ICC regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, Strauss was fined 20 per cent of his match fee while his players received 10 percent fines.
