Pakistani leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed will help coach Sussex as well as England's spin bowlers for three months from June, the English county announced on Tuesday.
The deal was revealed after Sussex, who had a long and fruitful association with Mushtaq before he retired from playing last year, finally secured a work permit for him -- a process that had been complicated by a recent change in regulations.
"It's a great honour to come back to my 'family'," Mushtaq said. "It will be nice to see all my friends again and I hope I will be able to take my performances from the field into the dressing room.
"When you have a passion for something, you allow yourself to give your best - and I have the passion and desire for coaching.
"It is also a great honour to be working with the England and Wales Cricket Board, and I am looking forward to passing on my experience to the spinners of England as well as the whole Sussex squad."
Mushtaq, 38, decided to end his playing career at the end of the 2008 English county season following a recurrence of a knee injury.
He has previously acted as an assistant coach for Pakistan and took over temporarily following the death of head coach Bob Woolmer during the World Cup in 2007.
