Bell flops in Ashes test

Ian Bell suffered an Ashes setback Wednesday when he slumped to his second-lowest score of the season, just hours after Kevin Pietersen was ruled out of the remaining three Tests against Australia.

Bell, tipped to replace Pietersen whose Ashes campaign was ended by an Achilles injury, made just seven for Warwickshire in their County Championship clash with Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.

Team-mate Jonathan Trott took the plaudits with 140 not out to help his side recover from 90 for five. Warwickshire ended the second day at 383 for seven.

Bell lasted just 27 deliveries before edging James Tomlinson to wicket-keeper Tom Burrows.
