Elton Chigumbura made 50 from 72 balls as Zimbabwe recovered from 107 for five to make 206 all out against the West Indies in the second one-day international on Saturday. Zimbabwe were wobbling at 34 for two in the seventh over, after Kemar Roach ran Vusimuzi Sibanda out for five, and had Hamilton Masakadza caught at third man for 14. Tatenda Taibu joined Brendan Taylor, and they engineered a recovery in a stand of 59 for the third wicket. But Zimbabwe ran into trouble, when they lost Taylor for 47, Stuart Matsikenyeri for two, and Taibu for 31 in the space of 29 balls before Chigumbura joined Greg Lamb and put on a vital 73 for the sixth wicket. Lamb made 23 before he gave a return catch to Nikita Miller in the 45th over, and Zimbabwe lost their last five wickets for 26 runs in 33 balls. Miller was the most successful West Indies bowler with four wickets for 43 runs from 10 overs, and Roach collected three for 37 from 9.5 overs. Zimbabwe made one change with Christopher Mpofu replacing Shingirai Masakadza, and West Indies dropped Dwayne Smith and Denesh Ramdin to bring in Darren Sammy and Dave Bernard Jr. Zimbabwe lead the five-match series 1-0, after a two-run victory in the opening match two days ago at the same venue. The visitors have never beaten West Indies in a bilateral ODI series. |
