Bangladesh recorded only their second ever test series win and their first away from home here on Monday when they beat hosts West Indies by four wickets in the second and final Test to seal it 2-0. The tourists, also winning an unprecedented second successive Test, chased down the target of 215 to win by six wickets with stand-in captain Shakib Al Hasan winning it in style with a six to end 96 not out. Bangladesh won the opening Test last Monday in St. Vincent by 95 runs. The series win comes against a much weakened and inexperienced West Indies side as most of their stars had boycotted the series in a dispute with their governing body over pay. Brief scores: West Indies 237 (Travis Dowlin 95, Dale Richards 69, Omar Phillips 23; Mahmudullah 3-44, Shakib Al Hasan 3-59, Enamul Haque Jr 3-62) and 209 (Dave Bernard Jr 69, Travis Dowlin 49, Omar Phillips 29, Darren Sammy 22; Shakib Al Hasan 24.5-3-70-5, Enamul Haque Jr 3-48) Bangladesh 232 (Mushfiqur Rahim 48, Raqibul Hasan 44, Tamim Iqbal 37, Mahmudullah 28; Kemar Roach 23.5-8-48-6) and 217 for six (Shakib Al Hasan 96 not out, Raqibul Hasan 65; Darren Sammy 16-1-55-5) |
