Sarandeep gets seven, Sanyal saves the blushes for Railways (Ranji Round-up)

New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) Sarandeep Singh's seven-wicket haul couldn't stop Railways from scoring 419 in the first innings against Himachal Pradesh on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match here Wednesday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 238 for four, Railways put themselves in a comfortable position riding on Sanjib Sanyal's classy 92 and Yere Goud's 58 at the Karnail Singh Stadium.

At stumps, Himachal were 34 for no loss with Bhavin Thakkar batting 18 and Sangram Singh 14.
Medium pacer Vikramjit Malik got some seam movement due to the overcast conditions and gave Himachal the first breakthrough by removing Goud, who could add just 10 to his overnight score, caught by wicketkeeper Ajay Mannu.

With half the side back in the pavillion for 238, Sanyal and Akshay Girap (23) then added some valuable 72 runs for the sixth wicket to put Railways back on track.

Sanyal went into the attacking mode right from the start and kept finding boundaries regularly as Girap remained a mute spectator. Sanyal hit 13 fours and a six during his 124-ball stay and was dismissed in an amusing way by Sarandeep.

Sanyal's bat-pad, almost got stuck in the flap of his pad, but Mannu lapped it from inches above the ground to end his gutsy innings. Karan Sharma scored an unbeaten 30 to see Railways get past the 400-run mark.
