The five-match series is tied at 1-1, with Sri Lanka winning the opening one-dayer by eight wickets and India posting a three-wicket victory in the second game in Dambulla. India made one change from the side that played the previous match, bringing in fit-again opener Gautam Gambhir in place of all-rounder Irfan Pathan. The hosts replaced fast bowler Dilhara Fernando with Chaminda Vaas.
